Safi stresses further preservation of historic monuments & cultural heritages

A number of elders, dignitaries and representatives of Kunar people in meeting yesterday with acting and designate minister of information and culture asked for further attention to preservation of the country’s historic monuments and cultural heritages.

In the meeting attended also by deputy minister of financial affairs, administrative and tourism for information and culture Sayeda Mojgan Mustafavi and representative of Kunar people in Wolisi Jirga, Haji Mohammad Anwar Sultani, Haji Satar Khan, Dr. Sultan Mohammad Azimi, Sharif Khan and Nimatullah Karyab, representing others in the meeting, spoke and said: “It is an honor that for the first time, a woman from the country’s east has been appointed as acting and designate minister of information and culture and praised the country’s President for appointing her as acting and designate minister of information and culture.

They asked the newly-appointed acting and designate minister of information and culture for her attention to further preservation of the country’s historic monuments and cultural heritages.

They also asserted that further attention should be paid to Islamic and Afghani cultural values in broadcasts of visual media.

Afterwards, acting and designate minister of information and culture Hasina Safi by thanking elders, dignitaries and representatives of Kunar said the role of women was vital in development of culture.

“Girls should be encouraged to education and unpleasant traditions as early marriages of girls should be prevented,” Safi said, adding that Afghanistan is a country where the people have and follow various cultures.

She also briefed related to the ministry’s various works and activities including culture and art, publications, tourism and youth affairs and assured of her attention to the respective areas in particular preservation of the country’s historic monuments and cultural heritages.
