NUG leaders meet different countries’ officials

KABUL: At the sideline of NATO summit in Brussels, the national unity government leaders met with Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel, Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported the other day.
According to the agency, during the meeting, NUG leaders expressed gratitude over Germany’s effective and active role in Afghanistan.
Both sides also exchanged views on Afghanistan’s political-security situation, holding elections, peace negotiations, NATO presence and Germany’s continued assistances in strengthening the country’s army and democracy, BNA added.
German Chancellor Merkel assured of her country’s continued cooperation to restore peace and stability in Afghanistan.
According to another report, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a meeting with Norway premier discussed enhanced bilateral cooperation, regional issues, ensuring security, development projects and peace talks.
Likewise, during his second day of visit to Belgium, President Ghani met with France president, during which both sides discussed regional cooperation, professional trainings and serious fighting against international terrorism.
Two sides also agreed that both countries would continue holding meetings in presidential and ministerial level in order practical steps are taken in the respect.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani also met Belgium King in kingdom palace, during which both sides exchanged views on importance and bolstering relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Congratulating ceasefire initiative, Belgium King declared his support from Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace talks.
According to another report, during his visit to Belgium, President Ghani met with Azerbaijan president in Brussels.
During the meeting, both sides spoke about bolstering cooperation, military equipment, importing fuel and extraction of mines. Both sides also agreed that both countries’ delegations would hold a meeting on importing fuels from Azerbaijan and clarifying Afghanistan’s fuel capacity.
Meanwhile President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani held a meeting with Netherlands Prime Minister in Brussels city during which both sides exchanged view on mutual cooperation, peace talks through Afghans, ceasefire and fighting terrorism and narcotics.
At the sideline of NATO summit, the NUG leaders also met with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and discussed variety of issues on Afghanistan.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani returned home yesterday.
