President reviews Faryab security situation via videoconference

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani spoke with Faryab province’s local in-charges and security sector officials via a videoconference and reviewed the security situation of that province, the presidential palace said in a statement the other day.
Attended by a number of security sector and government officials, the videoconference held in Tawhid National Center on Saturday, according to the statement.
At the outset, army chief of staff Gen. Mohammad Sharif Yaftali presented his report about general security situation and operations.
Likewise, Gen. Akhtar Mohammad Ibrahimi senior deputy minister of interior presented his report about police reforms in Faryab province, the statement added.
Furthermore, Ebadullah Ebad, National Directorate of Security’s provincial deputy and Naqibullah Fayeq Faryab governor presented their reports about operative situation, governance and ongoing problems in that province, the statement went on to say.
They said that the security situation in Maimana and other districts of Faryab province was satisfactory and steps have already been taken to further improve that, the statement added.
They added, over the last days, the protests have been launched in a peaceful atmosphere and the government ensured the protestors’ security.
The officials pointed out that Khwaja Sabz Posh and Dawlat Abad highway has been opened and they assured the people the highway would not be closed again, adding operations are ongoing to open other routes as well.
After hearing the officials’ reports, the president thanked them of good management. He also appreciated Faryab people’s cooperation with the government.
To accelerate assistances’ distribution process to those affected by droughts and floods in northern provinces of the country particularly in Faryab, the president instructed the organs’ concerned to step up in the respect.
President Ghani also said that to manage floods in the country, the government had a specific draft and Faryab would be prioritized in this regard.
At the end, the president tasked the relevant organs to strengthen stability and ensure justice in Faryab province. He also instructed the security and defensive sector’s officials to pay heed in better supplying of forces deployed in that province.
