Afghan commando not involved in torturing Qaisari’s guards, MoD

Following a leaked graphic video that shows Afghan forces were torturing wounded bodyguards of Nizamuddin Qaisari, an official for Ministry of Defense (MoD) in an interview with The Kabul Times correspondent said: “As you know, role of ANA Commando Forces is key in all fields of security in the country.”
“The people of Afghanistan know that ANA commando forces are not torturing their people at any way, so I’m strongly rejecting what released through social media and local TV channels saying that commando forces were involving in torturing bodyguards of Qaisari as ANA commando forces have particular uniforms and there is nothing that shows role and involvement of the forces in the clip,” said Gen. Mohammad Radmanish, acting spokesperson to MoD.
He added that the government has appointed a delegation to investigate the case and prosecute perpetrators of the incident, saying that bodyguards of Qaisari have been released based on verdict of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and investigations which were underway in this regard would be clear and shared with media very soon.
Regarding activities and threats posed by armed irresponsible individuals in various parts of the country, acting spokesperson to MoD said that the international community and Islamic countries were supporting the Afghan government for its position in connection with prevention of armed irresponsible individuals’ activities in the country.
Gen. Radmanish by pointing to recent operations of Afghan security forces against armed irresponsible individuals said Afghan defense and security forces were fully ready to defend their people and country and tackle challenges and threats posed by them in the country.
Meanwhile, presidential office in a statement has tasked Ministry of Defense (MoD) to investigate the leaked clip and involvement of security forces in abusing bodyguards of Qaisari.
“President Ghani has stressed in the statement that behavior of ANDSF should be in accordance to the country’s laws and the Afghan security forces should observe all norms of human rights,” said Shah Hussain Murtazawi, deputy spokesperson to president.
He added that the country’s President has ordered relevant organs to review footages and video clips leaked in social media regarding the arrest of Qaisari’s bodyguards and share the investigation’s result with the president.
“What happened in custody in Faryab was violation of a number of individuals not Afghan security forces in general as the country’s defense and security forces are professional and act in accordance to the country’s’ laws,” Murtazawi said.
It is worth mentioning that Nizamuddin Qaisari, who was commander of local police and police chief of Faryab’s Qaisar district, was arrested after a violent dispute during a meeting with officials of government security forces and brought to Kabul for further investigation.
