First Lady meets Obs & Gynae, children doctors

KABUL: First Lady Rula Ghani held a meeting with obs and gynae and children doctors at the Presidential Palace aimed to know about obstetrics and gynecology problems, activities and challenges as well as solutions for them in Afghanistan, Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported the other day.
According to the agency, the meeting attended by tens of obs and gynae doctors and in coordination with obs and gynae doctors’ association during which female reproductive systems, high rate of breast cancer and other obstetrics problems and their solutions were discussed.
Appreciating Afghan doctors’ efforts in reducing mothers’ mortality rate, First Lady Rula Ghani said that Obs and Gynae doctors were a capable professional class, they should believe in their skills and do their best to solve their shortcomings, BNA added.
The participants said a number of government and non-government hospitals don’t pay serious heed in their recruitments, that is why the problems of ob-gyn patients are not properly addressed.
According to them, however it is impossible to prevent breast cancer, but if it is diagnosed on time, the chance to successfully treat the disease would rise.
According to findings, due to late refer to doctor, the mortality rate of Afghan women with breast cancer is still higher than other regional countries.
