Suicide attack martyrs, wounds dozens of people in Paktia

KABUL: A suicide bombing occurred inside a mosque in Gardez City, the center of southern Paktia province on Friday afternoon, police confirmed.
Paktia Police Chief Raz Mohammad Mandozai said the suicide bombing left 20 people martyred and 40 others wounded, according to their initial information.
The people were busy performing Friday prayers in Sahib-ul-Zaman Mosque in Khwaja Hassan area in PD2 of Gardez City when the explosion happened, he added. `
Health officials in the province have confirmed that 25 people were martyred, and 33 others were wounded in the bombing. President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a statement condemned suicide bombing on Khwaja Hassan Mosque in Gardez City, calling it inhuman act. The president said such attacks cannot affect unity among Afghans. The president extended his sympathy and condolence to the families of those martyred and wished urgent recovery for those injured in the incident.
