Afghanistan Darakht-e-Danesh online library recognized with citation from American Library Association. DDL was selected as one of the four 2018 recipients of the ALAs presidential citation for innovative International Library Projects.
This citation was recently given by ALA’s president Jim Neal to Dr. Rebecca Miller at the International Library Reception at the BB King’s Club during a current year ALA’s conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
DDL Director Lauryn Oates said, the ALA’s recognition of our work is a great boost to our motivation and an incredible honor and energizes us as we move ahead in the effort to grow the library further, enriching its collection and expanding access to it.
DDL presents a selection of scientific, historical, cultural and geographical books on Afghanistan and the world in Dari and Pashtu languages to schools and university students that have been collected from reliable domestic international sources.
The Darakht-e-Danesh Library is a multi lingual digital library of learning materials and Darakht-e-Danesh which means knowledge Tree in Dari language, is an initiative of Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan and is working to support the education sector to improve by harnessing the potential of technology and the power of better access to information.
