President Ghani pledges transparency as national commitment

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in the final conference of the National Procurements Commission (NPC), “Resolute Reforms and Institutionalization of Transparency) said his main target was holding transparency in procurements, said a statement from the Presidential office the other day.
The president thanked the creation of a roadmap in the procurements area and said: “The importance of today’s conference is that a step has been taken for the future roadmap and the procurements should be used as successful experience in good governance.”
He said the government institutions have turned into an absolute professional device and for which, transparency and national commitment have been considered, no disciplinary issue.
He said in the past all contracts were with corruption, illegality and inattention, but today, most of them are with less problems and noted that all contracts have been fully investigated and talked on.
President Ghani warned that no one could act above the constitution and no government official should think for their economic interests, as conflict of interests cause lack of transparency and none of the national assembly have the right to own company, so they shouldn’t interfere in the issue.
“We have reached to 3 percent growth from the depth of the economic collapse and this is the continuation of poverty and we should reach to 9 percent economic growth and that this was impossible without national investment,” said the president.
He reiterated that women’s products would be preferred.
At the end of the meeting, the president conferred medal of Ghazi Mir Bacha Khan on the Eng. Elham Hotaki for his effort in the different fields of procurements, the agency concluded.
