Hamdullah Mohib assumes office as new NSA

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani officially introduced Dr. Hamdullah Mohib as new National Security Advisor (NSA) to his office’s staff, Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported on Sunday. According to BNA, during a ceremony held in National Security Council office and attended by a number of high-ranking government officials, the president said however, to accept resignation of a friend and colleague was a difficult decision, but I decided to accept it due to the country’s national interests.
Appreciating former national security advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar efforts and services, the president said he had done much in different sections and the country needed him to use his experiences in other fields as well, the agency added.
The president added now our goal is to focus on future.
President Ghani said Afghanistan had security and strategic relations with a number of countries and international organizations and management of these relations is the main duty of National Security Council, as well as, in term of security, managing international and regional consensus is among other duties of the council.
He thanked Dr. Mohib for his successful services as the Afghan Ambassador in a country that has importance to Afghanistan in all sectors.
Furthermore, Dr. Mohib thanked President Ghani for his trust and said the assumption of office as National Security Adviser was a huge responsibility.
He also added that Hanif Atmar was our close friend and colleague and we thank him for his efforts and works and we would continue advising with him in related affairs.
Hailing Afghan National Defense and Security Forces bravery and sacrifices, Dr. Mohib assured National Security Council would be further strengthened in close cooperation with its staff.
