China reiterates support to Afghanistan

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met Chinese state commissioner for counterterrorism and Security Affairs here the other day, a statement from the presidential press office said.
According to the statement, both sides discussed security and economic developments, Afghanistan’s exports to China and joint counterterrorism efforts. Ching Koping assured his country’s continued support to Afghanistan, adding China would spare no effort to help Afghan led and owned peace process and the ceasefire.
“We want to Afghanistan to be coordinating point for other countries which is in the interest of both countries and economic development in the region as well as it is the vision of Chinese leader Xi Jinping,” the visiting commissioner said, as quoted in the statement.
Thanking Chinese positive vision towards Afghanistan, President Ghani said two countries were having enough capacities to develop cooperation in the areas of trade, transit and exports, saying two countries delegation should work in the connection. Meanwhile the president called terrorism as joint threat for both countries, asking for joint counterterrorism efforts to curb the phenomenon, the statement concluded.
