NPC approves 12 projects worth 829m Afs

KABUL: Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the National Procurement Commission (NPC) meeting approved contracts for twelve new projects worth 829 million Afs, according to a statement from the Presidential Press Office released to media.
Some key contracts approved during the meeting included the printing of 12.2 million books, construction of 4.95kms of road by the Independent Development Authority for Capital Zone, and the pavement of 285 acre of industrial park land in Mohammad Agha district of Lugar province.
Transportation of 20,000 metric tons of chemical fertilizers from Mazar-e-Sharif fertilizers factory to the provincial capitals and districts of 34 provinces, and the designing project for the construction of the new museum in Kabul by the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, have also been approved during the meeting, the statement said. The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum shared information related to Shaidayee Copper Mine in the western province of Herat, with the meeting approved the recommendations and procurements related issues of the mine.
The project was also decided to be shared for further discussions during the cabinet meeting, the statement added.
According to the statement, the meeting also approved the previous decisions regarding the construction of 23.7 kilometers road between Bamyan and Doshi, and recommendations for the establishment of construction laboratory by the Ministry of Public Works.
National and international observers including representatives from the budget and national economic committees of the House of People, Afghanistan Transparency Watch Foundation, and SIGAR and CSTC-A of NATO-led Resolute Support Mission have also attended the meeting.
