The project of change of Kabul River is a positive plan and with its implementation the Kabul river will take a different shape.
In an interview with The Kabul Times reporter, the incharge of information and public awareness independent department of central zone development, Mahboobul Haq Atta said, it is a technical department that has always made positive steps for removal of garbages and infections including cleaning of Kabul river as 170000 cubic square garbages were cleaned and transferred from Pul-e-Artel to Abdul Haq square by capital zone.
He added, several economic plans were prepared and presented to presidential office for discussion by HEC and then approved. Our plans include construction of tunnels on both banks of Kabul river to lead sewage waters through these tunnels to a general canal in Chahar Qala Wazir Abad area in which public septic wells have been built. The inside of the river should always be cleaned for flow the water and improve underground water resources.
He went on to say, the capital zone independent department wishes to witness a sound environment in capital city in which there will be no infection and certain plants that decrease or eliminate infections would be planted on both sides of the river.
The maintenance of the river will be given to Kabul Municipality. A team will be assigned by presidential office to work on Kabul river. All the extra muds, sands will be cleaned from the beginning to Tangi Gharow in Pul-e-Charkhi area.
Atta adds, according to a separate plan, some parts of the river will be covered and be used for parking.
An agreement was signed at the presence of president Ghani, CE Abdullah, some cabinet members by Kabul Municipality deputy Ahmad Shoaib Rahimi and acting MoF Humayoon Qaiumi acting MoUD Roshan Wolasmal, charge d’affair of German embassy in Kabul Christophe Piks and director of Agha Khan cultural Foundation with a cost of € 18.058 m from the gratis aids of Germany for rebuilding and improvement of capital city socio-economic infrustrations. This project is expected to be implemented from Aug 2018- Dec 2020.
