President Ghani stresses on time holding of parliamentary elections

 KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a meeting with political parties’ representatives and leaders discussed national issues, including holding of the parliamentary elections, a presidential statement said.
During the meeting which was held in Gulkhana palace, the political parties’ representatives and leaders expressed their views on timely holding of the parliamentary and district councils’ elections, overall monitoring of the election process, easing voting opportunities for all Afghan citizens, opening a great number of the voting centers and some other related issues, the statement added. Thanking the political parties’ and leaders’ opinion, President Ghani said it was a historical step seeing the political parties were came together and discussed national issues.
“Holding transparent and country-wide elections is Afghans’ wish. I would like to thank the political parties for their detailed discussions and presenting their proposal for the government,” the president said as quoted in the statement.
Pointing to importance of understanding between political parties and the government, President Ghani asked both the parties and people to fulfill their duties for monitoring the process of elections.
“Since delay in holding of elections is not acceptable for political parties that is too not acceptable for both government and the people. The elections should be held on due time,” the president stressed.
