Afghanistan, Pakistan agree to follow 7 basic principles

Afghanistan, Pakistan agree to follow 7 basic principles
 KABUL: Afghan and Pakistani on Friday agreed on adherence to seven key principles in finalizing an action plan for peace and solidarity.

At their meeting in Kabul, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi discussed  Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS).In a statement on the seven principles agreed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said:- Pakistan will support Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace and reconciliation;- The two countries will undertake effective action against fugitives and irreconcilable elements posing security threats to either of the two countries,- Both countries committed to deny the use of their respective territories by any country, network, group or individuals for anti-state activities against either country;- The neighbors will put in place a joint supervision, coordination and confirmation mechanism through Liaison Officers (LOs) for the realisation of agreed actions;- The two countries committed to avoid territorial and airspace violations of each other’s territory;- The two countries will avoid public blame game and instead use APAPPS cooperation mechanisms to respond to issues of contention and mutual concern; and- The two sides will establish working groups and necessary cooperation mechanisms as per APAPPS for full implementation of the APAPPS and the above mutually-reinforcing principles.
