 KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with Uzbekistan special envoy Ismatilla Irgashev to Afghanistan at the presidential palace on Sunday evening, a statement said.
Welcoming the Uzbek envoy and the accompanied delegation, President Ghani praised the neighboring country’s assistance to Afghanistan, adding the two countries were enjoying unprecedented friendly ties, the presidential statement added. Conveying his leaders and people’s greetings to President Ghani and Afghan nation, Uzbek envoy said he travelled to Kabul to follow up the commitments made between the two country’s presidents in the recent meetings in Tashkent.
Uzbek envoy said his country was committed to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan. Congratulating successful holding of Tashkent conference to Uzbek envoy, President Ghani said two working groups needed to be established to follow up the decisions made in Kabul Process and Tashkent Conferences on peace and security as well as bilateral economic cooperation.
