Khost to be turned into regional city, President Ghani

 KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on first day of his visit to Khost met with a number of traders, industrialists and officials of provincial chamber of commerce and industries.
In the meeting, provincial director of chamber of commerce and industries Mohammad Nawab Amirzai while praising the President’s economic and development programs enumerated challenges facing investors in security and necessary facilities and asked for opening Ghulam Khan port, marketing to Khost products, creating air corridor, reviewing guarantee of companies and distribution of lands to investors in industrial park of the province.
After hearing problems and demands of traders and industrialists, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said: “The money of Khost is Halal and not earned unlawfully as thousands of Khostis have suffered lots of hard-works and kept their dignity.”
“Afghanistan should be changed to six economic zones one of which is Khost and I do not want the province to be remained as an deprived province,” The President said, adding that Khost should be changed to key regional city to have equal and balanced move as key cities such as Nangarhar, Herat, Baghlan and others.
Pointing to economic importance of pine nut, the country’s President said that attention should paid to exports and processing of pine nut and they could increase the exports of pine nut to $6million.
President Ghani by praising construction affairs of companies in the province said Khost construction companies’ union should come with a plan so that big contracts would be signed with them.
The country’s President asked industrialists and traders to invest and make use of opportunities and encouraged them for investment in mines in particular chromite.
Congratulating the inauguration of Khost Airport to traders and industrialists, President Ghani instructed head of national procurements authority Elham Omar Hotaki to urgently complete procurement affairs of the airport.
According to another report, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in separate meeting Monday with district governors of the province instructed that the district governors should specify lands for schools that have no land in their relevant districts so that ministry of rural rehabilitation and urban development could cooperate in connection with construction of schools.
