CE welcomes start of voter registration process

 KABUL: Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah met yesterday with Tadamichi Yamamoto, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), at Sapidar Palace.
In the meeting, the UN special representative for Afghanistan by welcoming the inauguration of voter registration process based on new reforms and considered it as key step towards holding a transparent elections in Afghanistan.
Yamamoto also assured of the UNAMA’s cooperation in elections process and considered holding the elections as step towards maintaining stability in the country.
Praising the UN for cooperation in opening of voter registration process, Chief Executive considered the start of registration based on new reforms and citizenship Tazkira as key step towards transparency and stressed on NUG commitment to holding the elections.
The UN special representative for Afghanistan also briefed related to Geneva Meeting on Afghanistan. The country’s Chief Executive welcomed holding the meeting and promised that Afghanistan government would cooperate in this regard. It is worth mentioning that latest political and security situation and peace process will be discussed in the meeting.
