‘Use all possible means to assist affected people’

 KABUL: In a high state commission on anti-disaster meeting, Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah said that wheat and fodders supply in affected provinces would start simultaneously with survey process, Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported the other day.
During an extraordinary meeting attended by government related ministers and international organizations’ representatives, on drought and lack of water, Dr. Abdullah said to prevent probable vulnerabilities, implementation of the plans should not bepostponed, according to the agency. 
State minister of Afghanistan National Disasters Management Najib Aqa Fahim said rainfall percentage has decreased by 61 percent in compare with last years, a problem should be seriously paid heed, BNA added. 
The ministry of agriculture said it would soon distribute fodders and wheat in Ghor, Badghis and Jauzjan provinces, BNA went on to say.
According to the ministry, $135 million is needed to confront drought and water shortage in the country, the agency continued. 
Minister of refugees and repatriates Sayed Alimi Balkhi reported that five provinces are severely vulnerable from drought and almost 200,000 families would be affected.
The ministry of rural development declared that work is ongoing on water supply emergency plan in twenty provinces and it needs $8.6 million to be applied. 
Afterward, CE Abdullah instructed the agriculture ministry and state ministry of national disasters management to establish a workgroup consists of government relevant administrations and international organizations and immediately address drought problems. 
He tasked local organs’ administration to contact all provincial governors to take their necessary measures in the respect.
According to another report, Dr. Abdullah met with a number of Afghan businesswomen at the Sapidar Palace the other day.  The meeting which was attended by Dr. Mustafa Mastour the minister of economy, the participants briefed CE Abdullah about their challenges and problems and proposed their suggestions to tackle them.
