 KABUL: Afghan Women’s Empowerment Executive Committee (AWEEC) held session with Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah here at Sapidar Palace yesterday, a statement said.
The committee discussed its impact and reviewed women’s overall situation, activities of the women supporting agencies and promoting gender positions in the ministries, the Chief Executive Press Office said.
Addressing the committee meeting,Minister of Women’s Affairs Delbar Nazari said her ministry started to work on national action plan for women empowerment, adding the plan to be finalized within upcoming six months.
Meanwhile deputy minister of women’s affairs SpozhmaiWardaksaid the plan would be developed in cooperation with other ministries to address the challenges before women in Afghanistan.
Chief Executive emphasized on outcome of the committee’s works and its proposal for the national unity government.
He said establishment of the women supporting centers by the government was a pilot plan and was not aimed to replace those centers running by the NGOs.
Supporting the committee members’ visit of the provinces, Dr. Abdullah said his office would support their visits till the budget being approved.
The participants discussed women’s empowerment and expressed their views relating to the issue and emphasized on developing of the action plan for the women’s empowerment committee.
