President Ghani meets families of martyred journalists

 KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has expressed condolence and sympathy with the families of journalists who have been martyred in recent terrorist incidents in Kabul, Kandahar and Khost.
In a meeting with the families held Monday evening at Gul Khana Palace of Arg, first Lt. Col. Ataullah and Merwais, representing others, spoke and said the respective terrorist incidents should be reviewed and investigated, their perpetrators should be punished and attention should be paid to the families of those martyred in the incidents.
Afterwards, Fahim Dashti from Afghanistan Journalists Federation spoke related to threats facing Afghan journalists in the country and asked the government for further attention to journalists.
Dashti stressed that journalists were keeping on their work despite of deadly attacks and threats facing media organizations in the country.
Offering condolence and sympathy to the families of martyred journalists, President Ghani by praising the families for their patience said serious investigation would be followed so that perpetrators of the recent terrorist incidents would be identified.
“I’m honored to meet all families of martyred journalists in a suitable time,” President Ghani said, asking journalists federation to share a clear chart of problems facing the families in order to address them.
The country’s President also asked the federation to activate journalists fund as soon as possible so that they could further support the journalist through the fund.
