President Ghani vows holding timely elections

President Ghani vows holding timely elections
 KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a meeting with a number of elders and political parties’ representatives, pledged to conduct a timely Wolesi Jirga and district councils’ elections in the country, a statement from the Presidential Palace said Tuesday.
In the meeting which was held at the Gul Khana Palace, the country’s president said that the government was committed to hold the election process timely, after the participants shared their suggestions about the inclusive monitoring of the election, its transparent, opening the polling centers, holding a fair and free elections and other legal issues of the process, the statement said.
Thanking the representatives for sharing their suggestions and discussion in regard to the key national issues with the government pledged that a timely, transparent and fair election, which is the demand of the people of Afghanistan, would be held in joint cooperation with the political parties.
He asked the political parties and the people to take active part in monitoring the national election process, the statement quoted.
The president also asked the elders and representatives of political parties to introduce their active representatives with practical plans for attending the coordination meetings related to the election process, the statement added.
“The legal aspects of the elections, which you have mentioned in your suggestions, would be made clear, and the results would be shared with you, after legal discussion by the related organs,” the president assured.
