Afghanistan, Tajikistan discuss bolstering regional consensus, combating terrorism
 KABUL: National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar in a meeting with high-ranking security delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan discussed bolstering regional consensus, combating terrorism and improvement of economic relations between the two countries.
Saimumin Yatimov, the Tajik head of state committee for national security who is visiting Kabul, shared his visions in connection with tightening security along the Afghan-Tajik border with national security advisor and stressed on regional consensus against terrorism. “Regional countries can reduce threats and activities of terrorist groups through joint and coordinated cooperation,” Yatimov said, adding that weakening regional consensus and cooperation are concerned.
Considering visit of the Tajik security delegation to Kabul as key towards improvement of relation between the two countries in particular security sector, Mohammad Hanif Atmar said the government of Afghanistan was perceiving concerns of the regional countries, stressing on strengthening of regional cooperation to remove the concerns. The country’s national security advisor added that Afghan national defense and security forces were in frontline of fighting against terrorism to protect the region and the world. Related to the Afghan-Tajik border, national security advisor said that Afghanistan government had preparations for maintaining security of the shared border and stressed on joint cooperation in this regard. He also informed of the government’s preparations in connection with bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Tajikistan. In the meeting, both sides decided that a high-ranking Afghan delegation would soon pay a visit to Tajikistan to discuss contents of a range of agreements in various fields.
