 KABUL: President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, in a statement, citing The Presidential Official site ordered a minaret to be built on commemoration of the recent martyrs in southern province of Khost. Speaking via telephone with the bereaved families of the recent incident’s martyrs including Ahmad Shah, a BBC correspondent who was killed following a terrorist attack on Haji Yaqoubi Masjid, where people were registering their names as voters of the upcoming elections, the president said: “The recent attacks, particularly on the voter registration centers, are attack on our today and tomorrow and that holding the elections indicate a difference between us and the previous powerful individuals,” said the president adding the people of Afghanistan don’t accept force and this is why they want to welcome elections. Speaking on behalf of the recent martyrs, Haji Jalandar told the president via telephone that despite several members of his family have been martyred in the terrorist attack, but he was strongly ready to support the democratic system. He asked the president to sentence those involved in Ahmad Shah’s murder to death, if proved culprits. The president said justice would be applied on them, if proved guilty, said the statement. The president also ordered the provincial officials to build a commemoration minaret after the recent martyrs.
