Joint committee of govt, media holds session

Joint committee of govt, media holds session
 KABUL: The joint committee of media and government held session with second Vice President (VP) Mohammad Sarwar Danesh on the chair here yesterday, a statement from the VP office said.
Praising the achievements of the committee in last one year, VP Danesh said the main goal behind establishment of the committee was to support free media activities, safeguard freedom of expression and bring about coordination among government organs and journalists supporting agencies. Meanwhile the government organs, including that of the Attorney General Office, Ministry of Interior and National Directorate of Security presented their reports on follow-up of the cases of violence against journalists. The session also discussed prevention of media’s live broadcasting of the terroristic incidents. The second vice president called the decision which was taken in line with consultation of the media supporting agencies only to prevent security forces and media-men’s casualties during the incidents.  The session decided to discuss the issue in the upcoming session and emphasized on agreement of the most of the committee’s members.
