President Ghani chairs High Council on Rule of Law & Anti-Corruption

President Ghani chairs High Council on Rule of Law & Anti-Corruption
 KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani chaired the High Council on Rule of Law and Anti-corruption meeting here yesterday, a statement said.
According to presidential press office, the meeting discussed the law on anti-corruption, progressreport on anti-corruption planning andpolicy of citizen-based governance.
At the outset, deputy minister of justice presented ministry’s report on anti-corruption law to the session.
Meanwhile director of the special secretariat for anti-corruption Yama Turabi briefed the session on practical measures taken for fight against corruption, saying specific reporting frameworks have been sent to ministries and 50 out of 58 organs have prepared their practical plans so far.
President Ghani principally approved the policy, saying the draft needed to be shared with civil society organs for further consultation, the statement added.
Later , deputy to local organs Dr. Temor Sharan presented the policy on citizen-based governance and briefed the session on challenges before local governance, framework of the local governance in Afghanistan and the necessary reform. He also proposed establishment of a committee for local governance, holding of nation-wide consultations on specifying the districts’ borders, establishment of regional development organs, implementation of local financial reformation, establishment of local governance construction projects as well as program for local human resourcescapacity buildings. The session principally approved the policy with President Ghani saying that would bring fundamental changes to the system of local governance.
