Regional countries should honestly cooperate with peace talks in Afghanistan
Despite of continued efforts made by Afghanistan government towards maintaining peace and stability and negotiations with armed opponents, the Afghan people have not reached to lasting peace in the country so far.
The issue of peace talks with the Taliban group has changed now to one of controversial issues that have taken long period of time and followed by big political and economic budgets. Although Afghan government has made lots of efforts towards providing facilities for peace talks with armed opponent groups in the past several years, the efforts unfortunately have ended with no considerable results both in national and international level.
But, hopes have increased after National Unity Government (NUG) was formed as leaders of NUG have been able to absorb the support of many countries for peace and stability in Afghanistan and currently Pakistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Saudi Arabia, China and India have declared their support and shown preparations for cooperation the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.
Despite of continued efforts by national unity government and proposing a clear peace offer to the Taliban group for peace talks, no positive response regarding the peace offer has been reported by the group so far.
A number of regional countries in the neighboring of Afghanistan are interfering in internal affairs of our country and mostly sabotaging any efforts of the Afghan government’s peace plans that can bring peace and stability to the country.  Nevertheless, Afghan political experts believe that no efforts will succeed until all sides do not reach understanding and agreement for peace talks, saying that if peace talks are followed independently by the government of Afghanistan and political parties of the country, undoubtedly the process will succeed as Afghans themselves know they can address all problems and challenges through national unity.
It is quite true that Afghans need peace than any other nation in the world and welcome and support any effort that can bring peace and stability in the country. If the United Nations as one of international organizations in Afghanistan gather all sides for finding political settlement, we all Afghans will welcome and support the initiative. On the other hand, the people of Afghanistan are optimistic regarding role of neighboring countries in connection with peace talks, but the Afghan people need regional countries in particular Pakistan to honestly cooperate with Afghanistan in peace effort.
It is said that peace won’t be maintained in Afghanistan unless neighboring countries in particular Pakistan cooperates honestly with Afghanistan towards peace and counter terrorism as the country has been continually accused of supporting and funding terrorist groups in its soil. Undoubtedly, peace will be maintained not only in Afghanistan but in the regional and world if Pakistan takes honestly steps towards maintaining peace and stability in Afghanistan.
The Afghan government has had friendly and good relations with all countries of the world and is asking its neighboring countries in particular Pakistan to honestly cooperate with Afghanistan in peace process as no process will be succeeded without cooperation of the neighboring countries. Afghanistan is now among those countries that has given lots of sacrifices in counter terrorism effort that still continuing in the country. To maintain peace in Afghanistan and the region, it is necessary that all neighboring countries in particular Pakistan should honestly help and cooperate with the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process as stability in Afghanistan means stability in the region and the world.
