Earth Day is a day for increasing awareness and praising for environment of this planet. The International Mother Earth Day is celebrated to remind each of us that the Earth and its ecosystems harmony us with life and sustenance. United Nations marks the day every year.
The idea for celebration of International Earth Day was suggested in 1969 during a UNESCO summit on environment by son of a preacher and enthusiast of science and peace, John Mckannel with the help of an American Senator Geliord Nasoon and was welcomed by the UN General Secretary. The event was changed to an international day in the calendars throughout the world.
Mother Earth is a common expression for the planet earth in a number of countries and regions, which reflects the interdependence that exists among human beings, other living species and the planet we all inhabit.
This Day also recognizes a collective responsibility, as called for in the 1992 Rio Declaration, to promote harmony with nature and the Earth to achieve a just balance among the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations of humanity.
International Mother Earth Day provides an opportunity to raise public awareness around the world to the challenges regarding the well-being of the planet and all the life it supports.
On the occasion of celebration the day, the following ways are delivered for protection of environment and this planet:
1. Reduce paper consumption: paper is a precious part of our life, with many life-enhancing uses like books and passports. It can be a sustainable product, but only it if comes from responsible sources and is used efficiently and not wastefully.
2. Plant a tree: planting each sapling can help green and clean the environment, so each one of us should participate in planting saplings during the spring season.
3. Participation in associations that are supporting the environment. This helps protect the earth.
4. Plant your own vegetable garden: if you have space around your home or residential apartment, plant your own vegetable garden.
5. Reduce water consumption: consumption of too much water can result in harming the earth, so be careful in consuming water all the time.
6. Further attention to all around where you are living: review all the time pollution created by shops and supermarkets and tell their owners for cleaning trashes and plastics.
It is necessary that plastic pollution should be ended.
7. One of good ways for helping the environment is to manage trashes: put all trashes in plastic pockets. Avoid throwing trashes to river, canals and streams.
8. To protect the environment in a better way, it is necessary to consider the earth as home and make effort to keep the environment clean and pure.
It is worth mentioning that the Earth Day is now a global event each year, and we believe that more than 1 billion people in 192 countries now take part in what is the largest civic-focused day of action in the world. Besides, tt is a day of political action and civic participation. People march, sign petitions, meet with their elected officials, plant trees, clean up their towns and roads.
