Golf, a royal sport but now at service of all

Golf, a royal sport but now at service of all

 Once upon a time the royal families were playing Golf in Afghanistan but now, this royal sport is at the service of all.

In these days, the sport of Golf is growing in different provinces of the country from among them in Herat commonly; this sport is played in an open atmosphere among the trees and lawns as well as valleys with natural ups and downs as such atmosphere causes psychological tranquility to athletes.
Despite three months have been elapsed since the opening of Golf Federation in Herat province, this sport finds more enthusiasts among the people.
The in-charges of Golf Federation say that so far, 500 persons registered their names in it and are active.
According to figures released by these in-charges, 40 percent of participants are women.
The in-charge of Golf Federation of Herat province, Ghulam Rasoul Habibzada says that this sport has more enthusiasts in this province as majority of them are young people.
The Golf sport entered into Afghanistan during the reign of Amir Habibullah Khan in 1900.
It is said that the government senior officials and royal family were more enthusiasts of this sport.
Now, the gymnasium of Golf of Afghanistan is built close to Qargha Dam while in a time, this sport was performed at military club.
During recent months, through their unprecedented efforts, sportsmen of Herat are showing their interest to this sport.
Now, the first national women team of Herat includes of ten quotas of women.
Afghan athletes called the lack of suitable fields for this sport the reason behind its unimproved during the recent years.
A Herati girl, Zarmina Safi who won the first position of national women Golf of Afghanistan, says that our main problem is lack of fields for this sport; we hope a standard gym is established so we exercise and get preparation for attending in competitions to be held in overseas.
A Golf sportswoman of Herat, Nafisa Barakzai says that we have no field for this sport in Herat and we perform our exercises inside gym.
Its land is very different comparing the standard lands.
Being expensive of sport means and lack of experienced trainer are another problem of Golf players of Afghanistan.
Another Golf player, Fauzia Ghafouri says that if the standardized land, sport means and good educator is employed for us, we promote sport training well.
The standardized field for Golf sport should cover over 20,000 squ.m. area.
Creation of sandy areas, lawn and pool are from among the dire need for Golf field.
Despite the in-charges of Golf Federation report about efforts made for construction of such fields but, the financial problems and lack of experience are regarded as the possible reasons for slowness of the field’s building.
The in-charge of Golf sport of Heart, Rasoul Habibzada says that the Golf sport needs much expenditure.
The construction of its field needs much time. We try to prepare a suitable land for competitions of Golf in Herat province.
According to the programs of this federation, it is supposed that the domestic and foreign courses be held for training to this sport.
This is in a time that recently the sport has been grown considerately in Afghanistan and a number of youths including boys and girls attended in competitions of various sports in overseas and gained much medals.
