Freedom of speech govt’s greatest achievement: Mostafavi

KABUL: Deputy Minister of Information and Culture on Finance, Administrative and Tourism Affairs, Sayeda Mojgan Mostafavi asked the traders and investors to assist the ‘Journalists Supporting Fund,’ Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported on Sunday.
During a news conference, she said freedom of speech formed the base and foundation of all freedoms, as it is the greatest achievement of the country over the last one decade, BNA further said.
Establishment of journalists supporting fund is a great innovation and for the first time, it has been vowed to be assisted five million Afghani by the president and ten million Afghani by the ministry of finance.
She added the fund’s money would be transparently spent and those journalists who get injured during the incidents would be assisted through it, the agency added.
Head of journalists supporting fund, Mohammad Asef Wardak said the fund has been founded in 2014 by former minister of information and culture Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen, aimed to financially support the journalists.
He added the fund relates to all journalists and they would be its owners.
