Elimination of violence against women need public steps, CE

KABUL: Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah in ending ceremony of the 16-day campaign for the elimination of violence against women said that violence against women was a big social issue that has affected soundness of society and development process in the country.
Speaking in the ceremony held yesterday at Sapidar palace with participation of women, the country’s chief executive stressed that there were still types of violence in various levels in Afghan society despite of developments in the country.
“The phenomenon of violence in backward communities involved in continued war has deep root as war causes promotion of violence and increasing of problems,” chief executive said, stressing on the elimination and reduction of violence against women in the country.
Pointing also to the issue of peace and presidential elections, the country’s chief executive said peace process should be followed for ending war in the country, but delay in presidential elections for peace process the result of which was clear was debatable, adding that leading body of national unity government has clear position in this regard. Chief executive further said that the people of Afghanistan wanted presidential elections to be timely held.
