Eight Afghans shortlisted for IPL auction

Eight Afghan players have been shortlisted for the auction of the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League.
They are among 346 cricketers who are set to go under the hammer in India’s Jaipur on December 18 (Tuesday). More than 1,003 players had initially registered for the event.
Afghans who are shortlisted for the auction are: Zahir Khan Pakteen, Hazratullah Zazai, Qais Ahmad, Shafiqullah Shafaq, Mohammad Shahzad, Gulbadin Naib, Karim Janat and Syed Shirzad.
Among them, Zazai, Shafiq, Shahzad, Naib and Shirzad each has the highest base price of 50 lakhs of Indian rupees (69,500 US dollars).
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb ur-Rahman have already been retained for the tournament which is scheduled to start in March next year.
