HUDC approves draft to construct Abdul Qadir Bedil’s Mausoleum

KABUL: Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani the High Urban Development Council (HUDC) held session on Sunday, during which the expropriated properties’ bill in Kabul city, reconstruction of Hazrat Mirza Abdul Qadir Bedil’s mausoleum in New Delhi, Hameed Momand’s mausoleum in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pul-e-Khumri’s achievements and current challenges were reviewed, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.
At the outset, the expropriated properties’ bill was presented to the meeting by a Kabul Municipality in-charge, Aziz Ahmadyar, according to the statement.
Afterwards, the president tasked the relevant organizations to further work on expropriated properties’ bill in Kabul city, the statement added.
Then, the issue to construct Hazrat-e-Bedil’s mausoleum in New Delhi was presented by acting minister of finance Homayoun Qayoumi, in which after discussions, the meeting approved that.
He said that the finance ministry in coordination with Agha Khan foundation would start reconstruction of the mentioned mausoleum.
Bedil enjoys special position in both Afghanistan and Tajikistan and its mausoleum should be reconstructed, the president said.
He added Afghanistan had been the regional square from the view point of culture in the past, and it should revive that position again.
A debate should be held on Bedil’s books, scientific position and thought, the president said.
He also instructed the finance ministry to reconstruct Hameed Momand’s mausoleum in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well.
Likewise, Pul-e-Khumri’s achievements and ongoing challenges were presented to the meeting by that city’s mayor Nezamuddin Hamidi, he added his municipality’s revenue has risen by 25 percent in compare with last years.
Lauding Pul-e-Khumri’s mayor works, the president said an alternative road needed to that city stating.
That Pul-e-Khumir would be the power center in the future, the president said Baghlan has wide area of jungles that should be paid heed to.
