Joint peace negotiators meet women civil activists

KABUL: Women members of civil society during a meeting with the peace negotiators have asked for their role in peace process and that they should be aware of any peace results, BNA reported the other day.
Releasing a statement, the women activists have asked the government for protecting their rights under the country’s constitution and added women rights should be taken in mind in the government’s peace plans, as noted in the 1325 UN resolution, the agency said.
Sharing the results of peace talks with women and their role in the entire important national process, was also among the key issues, women of the civil society have emphasized on.
Attending the meeting, Abdul Salam Rahimi, head of the presidential office said women role was destiny making in all national process and pledged that no one would be allowed to decide for them in their absence, according to the agency.
He said the success of women were their single voice and added that all peace negotiation would be taken place with the government centrality.
