Merkel assures Germany’s support of Afghan-led peace talks

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met German Chancellor Angela Markel on the sideline of Munich Security Conference here on Saturday, a statement from the presidential palace said Sunday.
According to the statement both sides discussed Afghan-led peace process, regional cooperation development and stability in Afghanistan.
During the meeting German Chancellor said her country was supporting Afghan-led peace talks and was ready to help implementation of the peace agreement. She said Germany as the strategic partner would remain beside Afghanistan.
Praising Germany’s assistance to Afghanistan, President Ghani thanked the country ‘s support of the Afghan peace talks.
