President Ghani chairs cabinet meeting

KABUL: Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the cabinet held meeting the other day, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.
At the outset, thanking Afghan National Defense and Security Forces, Kabul Municipality in-charges and other relevant organs for assisting natural incidents’ affected people particularly those affected by recent floods in the capital and other provinces, the president instructed the organs concerned to immediately step up on cleaning Kabul River in order to manage the floods.
According to the agenda, Head of High Peace Council Secretariat and the Commission to Hold Peace Consultative Jirga Mohammad Omar Daudzai presented a report on performances done on holding Loya Jirga and the preparations taken by the related commission in this regard.
Cabinet members while appreciating the commissions’ functions, presented their views and suggestions on properly holding of Peace Consultative Loya Jirga.
The also tasked the government organizations to cooperate with the commission on holding Loya Jirga.
Afterwards, Kabul mayor and deputy to state minister office on addressing natural incidents presented their report on plans and next steps on managing recent floods in the country particularly in the capital Kabul.
They also presented their short and long-term suggestions to address and prevent such incidents.
The cabinet tasked relevant organs to prepare a clear mechanism to prevent and manage floods in the center and other provinces, instructing the Kabul mayor to immediately step up on providing temporary places for those affected by recent floods in the capital.
