President Ghani meets US CENTCOM Commander

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with US Central Command Commander General McKenzie at the presidential palace yesterday, a statement said.
Both sides discussed joint counterterrorism cooperation, regional issues and equipping of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces, the presidential press office statement added.
Welcoming Gen. McKenzie to Afghanistan, President Ghani thanked US support and wished him success in his new tenure as the central command commander or United States.
Calling US as the strategic partner of Afghanistan, Gen. McKenzie said his country would spare no effort to focus on training and equipping of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces, the statement added.
