Govt. committed to support journalists fund: VP Danesh

KABUL: Deputy Minister of Tourism, Finance and Administration of the Ministry of Information and Culture Prof. Sayeda Mojgan Mostafavi and Journalist Support Fund board members called on Second Vice President Sarwar Danesh here yesterday, BNA reported.

Asif Wardak head of Journalists Support Fund praised VP Danesh for his cooperation with the fund, saying sans his cooperation the fund could not attract support.

Meanwhile, the board members Mumtaz Haidari, Mari Nabard Ayeen, Heelay Azim Nikzad and Rukhshana Alawi briefed the meeting on their achievements, saying the would be ready at any time to report about their works.

Expressing gratitude over works done so far by the members of the fund, VP Danesh said 18 journalists were martyred and dozens other injured in previous years, asking the board to pay attention to the victims’ families.

Hinting to joint committee of government and media, VP Danesh said government leadership was trying not to only support the fund, but to also address other issues before journalists. VP Danesh also asked the board members to present report of their activities to the joint committee of government and media.
