Minister Rabbani, US ambassador discuss peace, upcoming elections

KABUL: Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani met with US ambassador to Kabul the other day, Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on peace, direct talks between the government of Afghanistan and Taliban, upcoming presidential elections and regional issues, According to the agency.
Minister Rabbani also separately held meeting with UN special representative to Afghanistan Tadamichi Yamamoto.
Appreciating UN cooperation with Afghanistan, Minister Rabbani stressed on continued coordination and consultation between the government of Afghanistan and UN.
Likewise, Yamamoto assured of UN continued cooperation with Afghanistan in the fields of elections and peace.
Both sides also discussed 3rd Kabul Process Meeting and the country’s ongoing political situation.
