Meeting discusses security of upcoming presidential elections

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani chaired the Commander-in-Chief meeting here yesterday at the presidential palace, a statement said.

The meeting discussed security of the upcoming presidential and provincial councils’ elections as well as the parliamentary elections of Ghazni province, the presidential press office statement added.

During the meeting, officials of the Independent Election Commission presented the timetable of the upcoming elections to the security organs, where the security in charges assured of their full cooperation in this regard.

Meanwhile the session decided that the security organs should provide security of the upcoming elections the same as they did for the parliamentary elections and do coordinate the affairs with the election commission, the statement added
