Access to information people, media’s rights: Minister Safi

KABUL: Acting Minister of Information and Culture Hasina Safi met with deputy and some members of the commission on access to information here in her office yesterday, BNA reported.
At the outset, deputy to the commission Najiba Muram briefed the acting minister on duties, authorities and activities of the commission, asking for establishment of the commission’s branch within the ministry.
In her turn, minister Safi said an office for access to information has been established and would soon start its activity. The minister also said there were problems before access to information and would be addressed in close coordination with the commission, the agency quoted as saying.
Minister Safi went on saying that delivering timely and accurate information to the people was her ministry’s main duty, adding a committee was established to update the ministry’s website and deliver required information to the people, the agency added.
