Various programs on hand to celebrate independence anniversary: official

Afghanistan is a multi-cultural territory as each province enjoys its own particular culture and traditions. Fortunately despite of elapse of many centuries and diverse changes, our noble cultures have been preserved. The people’s Culture Directorate, MoIC has managed to take effective steps in protection and enriching of our cultural values as currently has undertaken special programs on the occasion of 28th Asad the restoration day of independence.
In an interview with The Kabul Times reporter, chairwoman of People’s Culture, Literature Directorate, MoIC Mahbooba Babakarkhail said, our department has always tried to preserve our country’s noble culture and lead diverse programs on certain occasions. Our programs on the occasion of 100th anniversary of independence are including printing and publishing of special folkloric brushers, launching of exhibitions, national-local games, photo exhibition of Afghan artistic-cultural dignitaries, scholars and inventors of the last century since independence.
She added, led by Prof Mohammad Rasul Bawary, work is underway to organize a seminar of Ustad Kamaluddin Behzad our qualified and acknowledged painter, miniaturist and brilliant cultural and artistic figure of Temorids era with cooperation of scholars, Kabul university and academy of sciences.
A three days seminar would be launched one day in capital Kabul and two day’s in Herat ancient city. In connection with this seminar we plan to print and publish eight titles books on Behzad personality, living conditions, socio, economic and cultural situation of Temorids era. Beside that a research and scientific seminar would also be organized on Allama Ibne Habban in Helmand province too in near future. We have also undertaken cultural programs in Parwan, Kapisa, Kabul, Khost, Paktika, Nangarhar, Laghman, Ghazni, Kandahar, Daikundi and Kunar provinces on the occasion of 100th independence anniversary.
She added, a research and academic seminar is expected to be organized on the protection of moral and material riches of Kharabat Street, Kabul city. Beside that an entrance examination of competitions of distribution of cultural, literary awards for a number of cultural-artistic elites in RTV, cinema theatre, fine Arts, music, archeology, and journalism is expected to be held.
Ms. Babakarkhail went on to say, we plan to organize cultural-artistic programs in all provinces on this occasion in close consultation, coordination and cooperation of relevant provincial officials and celebrate 100th anniversary of independence this glorious and political event.
Different social strata including writers, poets, artists, craftsmen particularly women will be invited to these celebrations. Exhibitions of women handicrafts will also be organized.
Implementation of the above programs requires sufficient budget that is impossible except contribution of government and NGOs and civil society.
With over 5000 years rich culture and history, Afghanistan has been witnessing five important stages of culture and civilizations and has been considered as one of the most oldest residential centers in Asia.
We hope our political independence would result in our economic development, social progress and peace and stability.
