Chief Executive meets German Special Representative to Afghanistan

KABUL: Chief Executive of the National Unity Government (NUG), Dr. Abdullah Abdullah met with the German Federal Republic’s Special Representative to Afghanistan the other day, his office said.
At the meeting which was held at the Spidar Palace, both sides exchanged views on the recent intra-Afghan dialogue held in Qatar, development in peace talks and preparation for holding the presidential election, a statement from his office said.
The German representative to Afghanistan shared details about the Qatar peace meeting with the Chief Executive and said the talks was a positive step towards peace and assured him of his country’s continued cooperation with Afghanistan and hoped the peace process could give positive result, according to the statement.
The CE lauded the German government role as effective in the Afghan peace talks and hoped the efforts could pave the way for direct talks between the government of Afghanistan and the Taliban group.
