MoIC to send delegation to Ghor to review Minaret of Jam

KABUL: Chaired by deputy minister of art and culture Prof. Mohammad Rasoul Bawary, a meeting was held to task a delegation to go and review Minaret of Jam in Ghor.
In the meeting, Prof. Bawary said that Minaret of Jam was one of the country’s historic monuments and has been included in the list of world cultural heritages by UNESCO.
“One of duties of the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) is to protect and preserve the country’s historic monuments and the ministry with close cooperation of UNESCO will make use of all possibilities to dispatch a team appointed by the cabinet to Ghor to review the area and take necessary decision in this regard,” Prof. Bawary added.
Afterwards, head of department for protection of historic monuments Abdul Ahad Abasi briefed related to current state of the minaret and a team dispatched previously by the MoIC.
It is worth mentioning that Minaret of Jam was constructed nearly 800 years back during the era of Sultan Ghayasuddin Ghori.
