KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani participated and delivered speech in an evening banquet arranged on the occasion of 100th anniversary of Afghanistan Independence at presidential palace to honor foreign ambassadors to Kabul and officials of the international organizations.
In the banquet attended also by the country’s First Lady, Princess Hendia and Princess Najia, daughters of King Amanullah Khan, and a number of high-ranking government officials, deputy minister of foreign affairs Idress Zaman spoke and said: “Today, we’re celebrating not only the 100th anniversary of Afghanistan Independence but the capability for serving and protection of our people.” Praising the country’s defense and security forces for their sacrifices and efforts towards counterterrorism and thousands of Afghan women and men who have devoted their lives for the protection of the country’s freedom, Zaman added today the people of Afghanistan were a united and decisive nation.
Afterwards, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani spoke and said they have renovated and rebuilt part of the country’s cultural heritages and historic monuments such as Darul Aman and Paghman palaces on the occasion of 100th anniversary of the country’s Independence and other parts of them were under reconstruction.
“The country’s cultural heritages and historic monuments are not the buildings only, but they are symbols of our national and historic identity,” President Ghani said, praising the international community in particular US, EU member countries, Islamic countries, India and all other neighboring countries in the region for their assistance to Afghanistan. The country’s President asserted that the people of Afghanistan wanted republic and peace; therefore, the government was committed to holding transparent, fair and inclusive elections in the country.
