KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani participated and delivered speech in a ceremony held the other day on the occasion of marking 50th year diplomatic relations of Afghanistan and Australia.
In the ceremony held at presidential palace with participation of the country’s First Lady and head of Mishrano Jirga, first deputy minister of foreign affairs Edriss Zaman spoke and said that today Australia was one of the key and stable partners of Afghanistan and cooperation between Afghanistan and Austria would expand in various sectors such as maintaining peace and stability, trade, economic development and others.
Afterwards, Australian ambassador to Kabul spoke and while congratulating the 50th year of relations between Afghanistan and Australia said they were marking the 50th year of relations between the two countries, but relations between the people of two countries have reached to more than 1.5 century. It is worth mentioning that Australia has provided $1.4 billion in aid to Afghanistan during the past 18 years and a small number of the country’s troops are serving under the RS mission in Afghanistan.
Afterwards, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani spoke and by congratulating the 50th year of diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and Australia said the country’s aid and assistance to Afghanistan in various fields such as budget, education, health, technology in particular human investment was considerable.
The country’s President said that the Australian delegation’s visit to Afghanistan was a sign of close relations between the two countries.
Meanwhile, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani praised the Australian forces servicing in Afghanistan under the RS mission in the country as well as the families of 43 Australian troops who have lost their lives in counter terrorism in Afghanistan.
