NUG leaders cast votes, encourage mass participation of people in election

KABUL: National Unity Government Leaders, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah cast their votes today morning.

President Ghani cast his vote in Kabul’s Amani High School and urged citizens to vote for their candidates and defy militants threats.

“I thank the Afghan forces for their bravery and sacrifices in ensuring security for the polling centers,” the president said while praising Independent Election Commission’s efforts, however he said their works would be evaluated at the end of the day.

Meanwhile Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah cast his vote in Kabul’s Naderia High School and encouraged Afghans mass participation in landmark event.

“I extend my sympathy to families of those lost their beloved ones during the election campaigning,” he said while stressing transparency in the election.

The 2019 election process officially began by Independent Election Commission commissioner in Zarghona high school of Kabul at 7 am today.
