President Ghani meets UNESCO cultural director

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met yesterday with cultural director of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at Presidential Palace.
In the meeting, both sides discussed related to preservation of historic artefacts of Ainak Mines site.
President Ghani tasked the ministry of information and culture to work with close cooperation of cultural section of UNESCO on a plan for preservation and maintenance of historic monuments of Ainak Mine site.
The country’s President said that the government was responsible for preservation of the country’s historic monuments and UNESCO and all other relevant organizations should share their experiences with Afghanistan government particularly for the preservation and maintenance of historic artifacts.
In return, the UNESCO cultural director thanked the government for its efforts towards preservation of the country’s historic monuments and asked for further attention in this regard.
