President Ghani meets Sri Lanka’s outgoing ambassador to Kabul

KABUL: President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a meeting with the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Afghanistan Gagan Pulasthi Bulathsinghala thanked him for his hard work in expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries, a statement from the Presidential Palace said Monday.
The statement said the ambassador, during his mission in Afghanistan, worked for the expansion of political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries, and quoted the country’s president to have appraised him.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan Ambassador Gagan Pulasthi Bulathsinghala expressed pleasure during his mission in Afghanistan and praised the country’s president efforts towards restoration of peace and security in Afghanistan, the statement said. “Sri Lanka has experienced the black period of war and now is with peaceful atmosphere,” said the statement quoting the ambassador.
President Ghani said peace was the priority of his government and the desire of the people of Afghanistan and to reach a lasting peace his government would use the successful experiences of the world countries, particularly Sri Lanka, the statement said.
