KABUL: Husain Bakhsh Safari, the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter was congratulated by the Presidential Palace as well as warmly welcomed and commended by the country’s Second Vice-President Mohammad Sarwar Danesh on Sunday, after trouncing his Russian opponent and bringing honor to his country. The Presidential Palace in its official facebook page and the vice-president in a statement, received by The Kabul Times, congratulated Safari’s victory to the entire people of Afghanistan. “Sweet victory on Russian rival in the field of sport is valuable, as such events can bring empathy and strengthen the feeling of brotherhood among our people who are suffered from war and violence,” said the statement quoting the vice-president. According to reports, Safari gained high scores during the three rounds of the fights held inside the cage in Moscow on Saturday night. The 21-old Safari’s emphatic triumph was acclaimed by wide numbers of the Afghans and his photographs went viral on the social media. The country’s second-vice president also called those fighting for safeguarding the country’s independence, territorial integrity and national values each one heroes of Afghanistan along with Husain Bakhsh Safari.
