KABUL: Deputy Minister of Publications Affairs for Ministry of Information and Culture, Abdul Manan Shiway Sharq, inaugurated the second branch of Baihaqi bookstore in Kabul Polytechnic University yesterday, BNA reported.
Addressing the ceremony, the deputy minister said Baihaqi bookstore could represent the spiritual and cultural bond of friendship between the Ministry of Information and Culture and the university. Emphasizing on culture of book reading in academic institutions, the deputy minister of publications affairs praised the university’ officials for considering a specific location to the bookstore.
“Baihaqi Bookstore, as the publishing entity of the Ministry of Information and Culture will make available to you the oldest texts,” Sharq said, as quoted by the agency, adding that the ministry was making efforts to help boost culture of book reading among youths.
The deputy minister went on saying that the newly inaugurated branch of Baihaqi bookstore was housing 200 books with total volumes of two thousand and included different spheres. He also said an international book exhibition to be also held by the ministry of information and culture in the near future. Speaking on the occasion, Rector of Kabul Polytechnic university Prof. Mohammad Sayed Kaker said the bookstore to further connect two academic institutions, adding that establishing of such centers to help improve culture of book reading among youth in the country.
